What I ate: January 22nd 2016

Hey everyone,

Happy Friday :)! I had a rather fun day today and it was even sunny for a bit:))). I visited with my friend, had coffee and just spent time with her doing fun things. She even had cake today and offered me some of course, and I declined the offer. For some reason it was quite easy to say no. I felt no need or desire to eat that piece of cake. I feel I'm on a good track here and am proud of myself and my willpower this week.

Here is what I had today:

For breakfast I had 1 cup of Special K cereal with 1 cup of unsweetened coconut almond milk and 1 sliced banana. To drink I had a cup of coffee with creamer and stevia sweetener and bottled water. Breakfast Cal Intake: 360

For my lunch/brunch I didn't have anything to eat. Instead I had a Grande Skinny Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks with a friend.  I did ask for a skinny version but for reason my drink was a bit more sweet than usual. I added a few extra calories here because I'm not sure what  exactly happened. Lunch/Brunch Cal Intake: 200

For dinner I had a Ciabatta Egg Sandwich (2 eggs) with 1 tbsp of orange marmalade. To drink I had coffee with creamer and stevia sweetener and bottled water. Cal Intake: 450

For snack today I had 1 medium apple (Red Delicious kind). Snack Cal Intake: 80

 Today's total calorie intake: 1090

Leopard/Animal Print White + Black OOTD

Hey there everyone,

Hope your hump day (Wednesday) is going great. This was my outfit of the day yesterday. I chose a 3/4 sleeve, black and white leopard print, form fitting sheath dress. I went along with the white and black theme and paired this lovely dress with white and black pumps and accessorized with my Michael Kors Grayson Studded Satchel/Handbag I usually reserve for warmer weather.

What can I say? I feel a bit tired of dark winter clothes. I love fall, spring and summer colors but  winter just seems to get me a bit depressed. I needed some brightness but I still didn't go with a bright color yet.....:)))). That doesn't mean that it is not in the works though :).

I have been seeing black and white combo trend all over the place and needless to say have become inspired. Even though it is already one of those trends I love and wear often.

I kept my makeup matte and somewhat plummy and darker to add that pop of color but still keep it  fall/winter appropriate and to just to tone things down a bit.

Take care,
Laila

What I ate: January 19th 2016

Hey everyone,

I had a quite an early and busy day today and I got a bunch of stuff done and out of the way. I did try and eat more small "meals" if you will frequently in order to increase my calorie intake for today a bit. I don't eat huge portions normally even when I'm not trying to loose weight I just eat stuff that has more calories in it .....and now that I'm choosing (for the most part) lighter and healthier options that have much less calories  I tend to feel full but I have to watch out that my calories are where they are suppose to be and not lower than needed or wanted. I think today I did a bit better :).

Here is what I had today:

For breakfast I had a toasted raisin bagel with 2 tbsp of Greek yogurt cream cheese and 1 tbsp of orange marmalade. To drink I had a cup of coffee with creamer and stevia sweetener and bottled water. Breakfast Cal Intake: 360

For my lunch/brunch I had a Dannon Light & Fit Greek  Chocolate Raspberry Yogurt topped with a 1 whole sliced banana sprinkled with a bit of unsweetened dark cocoa powder. I had water to drink. Lunch/Brunch Cal Intake: 185

For dinner I had a toasted Ciabatta spinach and egg sandwich with pepper jack cheese and a side of fresh  sliced cucumber. To drink I had 1/2 of a diet drink and bottled water. Cal Intake: 400

For snack today I had a cup of coffee with creamer and stevia sweetener and a chocolate frosted cupcake with filling. Snack Cal Intake: 240

 Today's total calorie intake: 1185

What I ate: January 18th 2016

Hey everyone,

So here we are at the beginning of the new week again. It is Monday. I feel great and am ready to take on this week! Today my calorie intake was fairly low, I'm not quite sure why it has been so some days as of lately since I'm not doing this purposely I just feel full after I'm done eating and don't feel the urge to go snack on something more. I feel like I have a good mix of heathy and not so healthy foods. I'm a foodie by nature, I like making and eating all sorts of food and sweets ....hence the need to loose weight :), so while I want to be healthier I don't have any plans of becoming a health freak. I'm nowhere near trying to cut foods out or deprive myself of anything. Rather, I'm just trying to create that calorie deficit I need to loose X amount of pounds while also trying not be a complete over the top junk food freak. I actually like the food I eat ...both healthy and not so healthy one. I think moderation is key. However, I don't advise going below 1200 calories per day ....it's not healthy for neither you nor myself. Yes, my aim is to loose weight and seeing the scale number go down each week makes me want to run around in circles and scream with joy :)). I'm not even trying to be sarcastic here. However, I have no intention of making myself sick in the process of doing that. Let's see if we can work on that tomorrow :).

Here is what I had today:

For breakfast I had the doughnut I got yesterday that I didn't get to eat. I figured I would have it this morning for breakfast, because if I would have had it yesterday I would've crossed my 1300 cal per day intake that I like to stick by. So I had it for breakfast instead along with 1/2 a sliced blood orange. It didn't come with blue sprinkles those where from another doughnut my son had that just fell off and stuck to mine LOL. To drink I had a cup of coffee with creamer and stevia sweetener and bottled water. Breakfast Cal Intake: 575

For my lunch/brunch I didn't have anything. I felt quite full after I had a doughnut for breakfast. Lunch/Brunch Cal Intake: 0

For dinner I had a 1 cup of veggie soup. I have made this soup last night. I used my slow cooker to make it. I threw in a few sliced potatoes, sliced carrots, frozen peas, barley, a can of stewed tomatoes, water, seasonings and spices and....I was pretty much done. No oil, no babysitting, no mess! Easy and healthy way to get your veggies in for the day. Plus it is very filling. To drink I had a bottled water. Cal Intake: 250

For snack today I had a Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt topped with 1 kiwi fruit and  1/4 of a cup of frozen organic blueberries (no sugar added). I have made this while I was watching Love, Lust Or Run on You Tube tonight. I have been obsessed with that show lately. I think it has little something to do with the fact that Stacy London is in it....love her so much! <3 <3 <3 Snack Cal Intake: 140

 Today's total calorie intake: 965

My favorite DIY Coffee Chocolate Face Mask with Honey

I  don't always eat my desert. It sometimes just randomly ends up on my face :)).

Today I want to share with you all a face mask that makes my skin silky smooth and radiant but is at the same good enough to eat. This mask smells delicious. I'm sure it also tastes delicious as well. The three ingredients used in this face mask coffee, cocoa and honey are something most of us already have in our kitchen. All three are excellent for your skin and honestly have skin benefits I love. Besides those reasons I love it because the smell of it is just divine and simply uplifts my mood anytime I apply it to my face. You can substitute the honey for lemon juice if your skin is too oily but if it has been dry like mine during this cold weather season you will love what a bit of honey can make your skin look and feel like.

1. HONEY
The four of the main skin-saving properties of honey.
Acne- Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it's great for acne treatment and prevention.
Aging- Full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down aging.
Complexion boost- It is extremely moisturizing and soothing, so it helps create a glow.
Pores- Honey is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.

2. COCOA
Cocoa Powder Benefits
- Adds a glow to your face
- Moisturizes your skin
- Is rich in antioxidants
- Helps fight ageing
- Promotes collagen production for tighter skin
- Prevents blemishes

3. COFFEE
Coffee Reduce Eye Puffiness

Caffeine, when applied topically to the skin, constricts the blood vessels under the skin and help reduce swelling and depuff eyes. It is recommended to use eye cream that has caffeine as an active ingredient.

Coffee Exfoliates the Skin
Repurpose old coffee grounds by using it as an exfoliator. Rubbing the grounds on your skin will remove dead skin cells and leave you with smoother skin. You can also add olive oil for a more luxurious coffee ground and olive oil scrub.

Coffee Tightens the Skin
Caffeine is a known diuretic and can banish cellulite when applied topically.

Coffee Brightens the Skin
The dark grinds of coffee beans can be used to brighten up dull skin.

THE DIY PART :):

Here is the "recipe" I used for my mask:
1 teaspoon of unsweetened special dark cocoa
1 teaspoon of finely ground coffee
1 teaspoon of organic honey ( use 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice instead for oily skin)
Few drops of water

Mix it all together. Add a few drops of water to make the consistency more smoother. Apply generously to skin avoiding the eye/mouth area. Applying it can be somewhat messy depending on the consistency so take care not to add too much water to it. I usually apply it in my bathroom sink area in order to avoid making a mess around the house because I'm a self proclaimed neat freak in a way :))). You can always prepare yourself for any accidents by wearing an old top so if anything falls on it you want feel too bad about it.
I usually do face masks like these when I'm around the house and have time to spare. So unfortunately you won't be seeing me running around town with it on my face :). Although now that I think of it, that would we kind of fun :))). I keep them on as long as I can but if you don't have too much time on your hands 20-30 mins would work nicely.
Pretty huh?? LOL.  When you go wash off your mask do it very gently. The cocoa, coffee and honey will get harder the longer they stay on you face but that is actually what you want. Splash a bit of lukewarm water on your face and gently start rubbing the loose coffee grains in circular motion to exfoliate your pores and remove gently the dead skins cells off your face/nose area. Do that for couple of minutes than wash all the stuff off your face completely and pat dry your face. I usually apply my face cream/moisturizer right after that.
If you have leftovers cover them with plastic wrap tightly than store in the fridge for up to couple of days until next use.

And let me just say I'm not the only one loving this face mask :).

Of course,  the only thing we are missing now is someone to randomly knock at the door :))). I'm not sure if they would be more scared of me or I of them for seeing me in this lovely state :) ....Oh well! Anything for beauty....Right?

Take care,
Laila
