My favorite DIY Coffee Chocolate Face Mask with Honey

I  don't always eat my desert. It sometimes just randomly ends up on my face :)).

Today I want to share with you all a face mask that makes my skin silky smooth and radiant but is at the same good enough to eat. This mask smells delicious. I'm sure it also tastes delicious as well. The three ingredients used in this face mask coffee, cocoa and honey are something most of us already have in our kitchen. All three are excellent for your skin and honestly have skin benefits I love. Besides those reasons I love it because the smell of it is just divine and simply uplifts my mood anytime I apply it to my face. You can substitute the honey for lemon juice if your skin is too oily but if it has been dry like mine during this cold weather season you will love what a bit of honey can make your skin look and feel like.

1. HONEY
The four of the main skin-saving properties of honey.
Acne- Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it's great for acne treatment and prevention.
Aging- Full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down aging.
Complexion boost- It is extremely moisturizing and soothing, so it helps create a glow.
Pores- Honey is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.

2. COCOA
Cocoa Powder Benefits
- Adds a glow to your face
- Moisturizes your skin
- Is rich in antioxidants
- Helps fight ageing
- Promotes collagen production for tighter skin
- Prevents blemishes

3. COFFEE
Coffee Reduce Eye Puffiness

Caffeine, when applied topically to the skin, constricts the blood vessels under the skin and help reduce swelling and depuff eyes. It is recommended to use eye cream that has caffeine as an active ingredient.

Coffee Exfoliates the Skin
Repurpose old coffee grounds by using it as an exfoliator. Rubbing the grounds on your skin will remove dead skin cells and leave you with smoother skin. You can also add olive oil for a more luxurious coffee ground and olive oil scrub.

Coffee Tightens the Skin
Caffeine is a known diuretic and can banish cellulite when applied topically.

Coffee Brightens the Skin
The dark grinds of coffee beans can be used to brighten up dull skin.

THE DIY PART :):

Here is the "recipe" I used for my mask:
1 teaspoon of unsweetened special dark cocoa
1 teaspoon of finely ground coffee
1 teaspoon of organic honey ( use 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice instead for oily skin)
Few drops of water

Mix it all together. Add a few drops of water to make the consistency more smoother. Apply generously to skin avoiding the eye/mouth area. Applying it can be somewhat messy depending on the consistency so take care not to add too much water to it. I usually apply it in my bathroom sink area in order to avoid making a mess around the house because I'm a self proclaimed neat freak in a way :))). You can always prepare yourself for any accidents by wearing an old top so if anything falls on it you want feel too bad about it.
I usually do face masks like these when I'm around the house and have time to spare. So unfortunately you won't be seeing me running around town with it on my face :). Although now that I think of it, that would we kind of fun :))). I keep them on as long as I can but if you don't have too much time on your hands 20-30 mins would work nicely.
Pretty huh?? LOL.  When you go wash off your mask do it very gently. The cocoa, coffee and honey will get harder the longer they stay on you face but that is actually what you want. Splash a bit of lukewarm water on your face and gently start rubbing the loose coffee grains in circular motion to exfoliate your pores and remove gently the dead skins cells off your face/nose area. Do that for couple of minutes than wash all the stuff off your face completely and pat dry your face. I usually apply my face cream/moisturizer right after that.
If you have leftovers cover them with plastic wrap tightly than store in the fridge for up to couple of days until next use.

And let me just say I'm not the only one loving this face mask :).

Of course,  the only thing we are missing now is someone to randomly knock at the door :))). I'm not sure if they would be more scared of me or I of them for seeing me in this lovely state :) ....Oh well! Anything for beauty....Right?

Take care,
Laila
